Subretinal transplantation with human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells delays retinal degeneration in royal college of surgeons rats

      Retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration represent the main causes of blindness worldwide. Human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs) are a promising candidate for regenerative therapy due to its advantages over other cell types. This study investigates the effect of subretinal injection of hUC-MSCs on retinal functional electroretinographic (ERG) activity and retinal structure of Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) rats.
